Everywhere I look I’ve been seeing Gucci’s signature double G logo. The most popular pieces are the Dionysus GG Supreme purse, Princetown slippers, and the new leather belt with the curved double G buckle. Right now seems to be Gucci’s moment, and we can definitely credit that to their new creative Director Alessandro Michele.
I bought my first Gucci pieces about a decade ago, and until recently I haven’t had the desire to purchase any additional items. This has nothing to do with a lack of appreciation for the designs, but I’ve always seen Gucci as the more traditional style, which is not really what I’m looking for. This is of course until Michele revamped Gucci’s image in the beginning of 2015, and since then he has captivated us with his unique style that includes an array of colors and designs that exude self-expression.
I’ve spent the last several months trying to get my hands on the Gucci black leather belt pictured in the outfit above. Although other styles of this belt are available online and in stores, the double G belt that is 1.5” wide with gold hardware is incredibly difficult to find. I was finally able to locate one at the Beverly Center store, but the smallest size available was the 95 cm which is a size too big. Since the next shipment of this exact piece isn’t for a few months, I settled for the larger size and had the salesman at Gucci add two extra holes. Truthfully, I wish I had waited for the smaller size since now the belt is too long and falls about an inch short of the next belt loop on my pants. I’ll likely end up taking the belt to Pasquale’s shoe repair in Los Angeles (my go-to store for all shoe cleanings and repairs) to shorten the belt. Moral of the story: wait for exactly what you want, and don’t settle for less in fashion or in life!
