Not Your Boyfriends’ Jeans

Just when you thought that the boyfriend jean trend fell off the radar — they’re back, and looking as stylish as ever.  This is one trend that should officially be considered a staple, and not just because they’re effortlessly chic, but because I’m tired of having to suck in to fit into my skinny jeans. Once upon a time I used to be that girl; the one who would be freezing cold but refuse to put a jacket on because it would ruin her outfit, or the one wearing the 5” Christian Louboutin pigalles and walking like a newborn lamb. I’m all about comfort now, so these jeans have become my go-to item in my closet.

The perception you want to give off is that you’re not trying too hard, since the whole idea behind the name is that you just threw on a pair of your boyfriend’s jeans. There’s so many ways to style this look, whether you want to keep things super casual with a pair of espadrilles and a t-shirt, or dress it up with a fitted top and sexy heels. For this look I wanted to add some feminine contrast, so I wore a fitted nude bodysuit from ASOS and paired it with cutout leather booties from Alaia. For the rest of the accessories, I kept it neutral with a mini Givenchy Antigona in nude, and a thin studded belt.

It’s always important to dress your body shape correctly, so finding the perfect pair of jeans that are flattering can be tricky. Although these jeans can be extremely versatile and worn from casual to dressy, make sure to balance out your proportions correctly. Wearing a fitted top or bodysuit will accentuate your waist, which can give you a perfect silhouette if you have a curvier figure. Each of us is born with beautifully unique bodies, which also means that our bodies will fill out clothing differently.
